Wood design from Hitonar

I think I love wood so much because my dad, my dad like to make tea on the nature wood table set and making tradtional chinese tea when I was little, and the nature tea smell and the wood texture always around me, it's a warm memories for all the time. I guess that's the time I start fall in love with the wood design. : )

Today I invite wood designer from Japan name Hitonar to share with us their beautiful design….

Q:  What's story behind your brand?

I've only just begun, but the concept is to create items that my family and I would desire.

I also value the idea of the creator enjoying the process.

Q:  Would you share with us how you started to create your art work?

I previously worked in computer graphics, but I had this feeling that, instead of data, I wanted to create actual items that would remain in the hands of the user.

Also, I had opportunities to be exposed to traditional Japanese woodwork in diverse ways. I developed an interest in them and thought that I would want to create something using wood.

Q: What is your working schedule like?

In the past, I have had phases where I worked late into the night, but these days I try to rise early and not stay up too late.

For me, personally, this seems to work better in terms of maintaining my health.

Q: Which type of material do you like to use the most and why?

Wood and metal. They have a certain presence, and I am attracted to their everlasting strength.

Q: Where does your inspiration come from?

Books, the internet, TV, movies, music, past memories, etc.

Q: Do you remember when you sold your first item and how you felt?

I remember it. I was excited, of course, but I was also worried about whether they would like the item or not.

Giving shape to thought.

Q: Which part of working do you enjoy the most?

When I'm applying the oil finish. I love watching as the dry wood soaks up the oil and dramatically transforms into a beautiful color.

Q: What kind of books do you like to read, and what kind of music do you like?

I don't have a particular genre I stick to, but when I like something, I tend to read or listen to it over and over. I love movies too, and I find myself watching the same ones repeatedly.

Q: If you were not a designer, what do you think you would be?

It's a bit similar, but a planner.
